UNICA lifts by 6.63% Brazil Centre-South ethanol output estimate for 2012/13
Dec 21, 2012 - The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) said yesterday it had revised upwards by 6.63% its estimate for the 2012/2013 ethanol production of Brazil's largest sugar cane producing region Centre-South.
The region's ethanol output is now projected to total 21.33 billion litres (5.635bn gallons) in the current crop year, which will end on March 31, 2013.
Of the volume, 12.48 billion litres are calculated to be hydrous ethanol, while anhydrous ethanol is expected to come in at 8.85 billion litres.
The new forecast of UNICA also envisages that a total 532 million tonnes of sugar cane will be crushed during the 2012/13 crop year, up 4.52% when compared with the volumes processed in 2011/2012.
