UK tender for 2.3 GW of offshore wind links starts on Oct 10

The bidding process to own the transmission links to five offshore wind farms in the UK totalling about 2.3 GW will start on October 10, UK energy regulator Ofgem said on Friday.
This is the fifth and so far the biggest tender round under the offshore transmission owner (OFTO) regime. Ofgem will select which companies will own and operate the links, valued at GBP 2 billion (USD 2.6bn/EUR 2.3bn) in total, over a 20-year period.
The OFTO tender round 5 includes the links to the following projects:
Statoil; Masdar; Statkraft
RWE; Siemens Financial Services; UK GIB; Macquarie Capital (each with 25%)
