UK names winners of GBP 3.2m renewable heating programme
Nov 2, 2012 - The British Department of Energy and Climate Change unveiled Thursday the winners of a GBP-3.2-million (USD 5m/EUR 4m) nation-wide funding programme for the installation of renewable heating systems to housing projects.
A total 44 social housing projects were selected to receive the equivalent of EUR 200,000 each under the third phase of the government’s Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) social landlord competition.
The funding awarded to bidders such as local authorities and social housing associations, will be used for the installation of biomass boilers, solar panels to heat water and heat pumps.
Over 1,000 social housing tenants are expected to benefit from the programme and heating projects need to be online by the end of March 2013.
The third phase of the RHPP scheme brings the total number of social landlord projects to 132 in 2012 and the amount of funding to GBP 9.4 million.
