UK James Cropper gets GBP-3.15m grant for steam raising facility

(SeeNews) - Oct 22, 2012 - UK paper and advanced materials firm James Cropper plc (LON:CRPR) today said it would get a GBP-3.15-million (USD 5.05m/EUR 3.9m) UK government grant to support the development of a GBP-7-million steam raising plant.

The facility will be located at Burneside, Cumbria in northwestern England and will use a combination of James Cropper's paper-making effluent residues and solid recovered fuel that consists of some 50% biomass and is made from Cumbrian municipal waste by UK company Shanks.

The grant comes from the Regional Growth Fund and has been awarded after a competitive tender process.

James Cropper said the facility would allow it to reduce substantially its energy costs, carbon dioxide emissions, and increasing environmental taxes. It will supplement the company's gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant.
