SKOPJE (Macedonia), March 11 (SeeNews) – Two Greek companies mull a joint participation in a public tender for the construction of small hydro power plants in Macedonia, Skopje-based media reported.
Athens-based holding company DEMKO is in talks with Greece's Public Power Corporation (PPC) for signing a cooperation agreement for participating in a public tender for small hydro power plants (HPPs) announced recently by the Macedonian government, Utrinski Vesnik (www.utrinski.com.mk) said on Thursday.
Public Power Corporation's management board should have held a meeting on Thursday to decide on a tie-up with DEMKO for the hydro power project on Crna River, the daily said quoting PPC sources.
If they reached a deal, DEMKO will participate in a tie-up with PPC with a stake of 65%, the article said.
Earlier this month, Macedonia's Economy Ministry called an international tender to award a design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) concession on 44 small hydropower plants with installed capacity of between 64 kilowatts (kW) and 3,200 kW each. The deadline for submitting bids expires on May 30.
