Turkey's Gama Enerji starts building 35 MW wind farm in Manisa - media
Turkish power producer Gama Enerji AS has started the construction of its 35 megawatt (MW) wind farm in western Turkey's province of Manisa, local media reported.
The Gok II wind farm will include 13 wind turbines of 2.75 MW each by GE and will become operational in 2014, energy portal Enerji Gunlugu said Monday.
Gama Enerji has signed a loan agreement with the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey, or Turkiye Sinai Kalkinma Bankasi [BIST:TSKB] to finance the project.
The company has a 10 MW operating wind farm in Izmir province and a 22.5 MW wind farm in the province of Canakkale. With the addition of the Gok II wind farm, Gama Enerji's total annual wind power output will be enough to supply 115,000 homes and save 162,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, according to Enerji Gunlugu.
Gama Enerji targets to raise its total installed power generation capacity to more than 2,500 MW by 2016, the energy portal added.
