Installation of 34 turbines at the 402-MW Veja Mate wind farm in the German North Sea has been completed, the project company said Monday.
The Siemens SWT-6.0-154 machines were erected two and a half months earlier than planned, Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH noted. Installation works were initiated on January 10 and 30 of the turbines are already generating electricity.
In January, the first Siemens machine started delivering power to the German grid.
The Veja Mate offshore wind farm will be located off the island of Borkum and will feature 67 turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW. All of them are to be fully operational by the end of 2017.
The Veja Mate project is owned by Highland Group Holdings Ltd, Siemens Financial Services and a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
