Toto USA buys 5.8 GWh of green power/year from Georgia Power
Jul 31, 2013 - Georgia Power, a unit of Southern Co (NYSE:SO), Monday said that bathroom fixtures maker Toto USA Inc was now buying 5.8 million kWh of renewable power per year under the utility’s Green Energy programme.
The contracted power, which is coming from renewable energy sources such as solar parks and biomass power plants, will meet around 50% of Toto’s total energy demand annually, Georgia Power calculates. Toto is now among the largest purchasers under the Green Energy scheme.
Since 2006, Georgia Power is allowing its customers to go green via the specially-tailored programme. Toto joined Green Energy in 2007. In 2009 it became a large-volume customer, buying 2.2 million kWh of renewable electricity per year.
Already over 4,000 customers are participating in the Green Energy programme, Georgia Power noted.
