US home appliances maker Whirlpool Corp (NYSE:WHR) said on Wednesday it has broken ground on a USD-3.3-million (EUR 3m) project to install a wind turbine at its manufacturing plant in Ottawa, Ohio.
One Energy will finance and implement the so-called Wind for Industry project with which Whirlpool seeks to offset the facility's power consumption by more than 30%. The wind power system is expected to be completed early next year.
Earlier this year, the company announced a similar three-turbine project at its Marion plant and a two-turbine development at its Findlay facility in the same state.
