June 16 (Renewables Now) - A 1,500-MW solar tender by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has seen strong interest, receiving 3,700 MW of technical bids.

The tender, seeking projects of between 1 MW and 500 MW, was announced last month. The price bids are expected to open on June 30, said market intelligence company Mercom Capital Group.

Mercom noted that TANGEDCO has received lukewarm response to previous tenders of 500 MW and cited a TANGEDCO official as saying that the 500-MW capacity limit for a single bidder and the recent record low price at a solar auction in Bhadla, Rajasthan "have changed the dynamics of the sector."
