to-the-point: Taiwan reaches 1 GW solar installs in 2018

April 10 (Renewables Now) - Taiwan installed over a gigawatt of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in 2018, up from 523 MW a year earlier, and a record for the country, says EnergyTrend.

United Renewable Energy Co Ltd (UREC), the company formed through the combination of Taiwanese solar manufacturers Gintech Energy (TPE:3514), Solartech Energy (TPE:3561) and Neo Solar Power (TPE:3576), was the top module supplier last year with total shipments of about 500 MW. AU Optronics Corp (TPE:2409), or AUO, ranked second.

The top inverter supplier, similar to 2017, was Taiwan's Delta Electronics Inc (TPE:2308).
