February 4 (Renewables Now) - Canadian firm Storage Power Systems (SPS) said Friday it has received a contract to supply 8.2 MWh/3.5 MW of battery storage systems for a solar-plus-storage project in Massachusetts.

The customer, Industria Engineering, is building a 4-MW single-axis tracker solar park in Grafton with two hours of energy storage capacity. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2019. Glenn McGillicuddy, vice president of engineering at Industria Engineering, said the contract award follows the successful deployment by SPS of a 1.5-MW system in 2018 for the energy consulting and construction firm.

The state of Massachusetts has an energy storage target of 1,000 MWh by 2025.
