May 8 (Renewables Now) - German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion SA (ETR:SEN) today introduced a 4.2-MW platform for the North American market.

It includes the 4.2M140 and 4.2M148 models, and is based on Senvion's 3.XM series. These new turbines feature lighter, longer and more efficient rotor blades, and are expected to bring a significant increase in Annual Energy Production (AEP), while driving down levelised cost of electricity (LCOE), Senvion said.

The 4.2M140 and 4.2M148 type turbines are best suited for low and medium wind sites as in the US. Lance Marram, CEO Senvion of North America, commented that the “initial market indications are extremely positive”.
