to-the-point: Queensland to help 3,500 families go solar with interest-free loans

The Queensland government on Tuesday announced interest-free loans that will allow 3,500 families to install solar systems and join the 474,000 in the state that already have solar.

The loans of up to AUD 4,500 (USD 3,300/EUR 2,900) are designed to cover the supply and installation of a typical solar array of 3 kW.

The loans are means-tested and are repaid over seven years. Energy minister Anthony Lynham said a successful applicant could save around AUD 2,450 over the life of the loan period.
