German park developer Ostwind Group on Friday officially started construction of a 16.5-MW wind farm in Eichstaett, Bavaria together with Max Boegl Ostwind GmbH.
The Windpark Workerszeller Forst will use five N131/3300 turbines of 3.3 MW each, supplied by German wind turbine maker Nordex (ETR:NDX1). Once operational late in 2017, the wind power plant is expected to produce about 33.5 million kWh per year.
This is Ostwind’s tenth wind project on territory of the Bavarian State Forest Enterprise (Bayerische Staatsforsten), the largest in Germany. The project went through a complex approval process and the developers have in place a programme containing ecological compensatory measures.
