November 12 (Renewables Now) - US thin-film solar cell maker MiaSole on Friday announced it has achieved an aperture area efficiency of 18.64% on a commercial-size flexible solar module.

The result has been confirmed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.

The aperture area of the module is 1.08 sq m. The photovoltaic (PV) cells for it have been produced using MiaSole’s equipment in Santa Clara, California, the company said. With the flexible solar solution, it targets the building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), electric vehicle (EV), safety and security markets.
