to-the-point: Japan's West Group starts building 2.3-MW floating PV farm
Japanese conglomerate West Holdings Corporation announced last week it has begun the construction of a 2.3-MW floating solar array in Saga prefecture.
The system is being built by West's energy arm on 31,120 sq m (334,972 sq ft) of land at the Ariake reservoir in Shiroishi municipality. The solar array, which is scheduled to commence operations in January 2016, will use about 9,500 solar panels.
With an estimated annual power generation of 2,400 MWh, the solar system will be producing enough to meet the power consumption of 720 local households.
