to-the-point: Iona Capital buys 1.8-MW biogas plant in England

London-based fund manager Iona Capital Ltd announced it has bought the 1.8-MWe Dryholme Biogas Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant near Silloth in Cumbria, North West England.

The investor plans to refurbish the plant in order to enhance its operational performance and increase the power exported to the local grid. In addition, it has introduced a new long-term feedstock plan that will ensure there is sufficient feedstock to achieve full output capacity. So far, the facility has been processing by-products from a local dairy alongside agricultural feedstocks.

The plant, which is accredited under the government’s feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme, will be run by Advantage Biogas under a long-term deal.
