German energy group E.on (ETR:EOAN) said on Thursday it has started construction on its 228-MW Bruenning's Breeze wind farm in Willacy County, Texas.
The announcement comes shortly after the company said it had decided to build the wind park that will be its 22nd in the US and second in Willacy County. The facility will use 76 units of the AW125/3000 turbine of Germany's Nordex (ETR:NDX1).
E.on is currently also building the 278-MW Radford's Run wind farm in Illinois. Both plants are expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
The Bruenning's Breeze wind farm is named after Michelle Bruenning, a member of the E.on legal team in Texas who passed away from cancer in 2014.
