to-the-point: 15.6 MW solar rooftops installed under Shams Dubai

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with a combined capacity of 15.6 MW have been installed so far under the Shams Dubai rooftop solar programme, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is urging more consumers to join it.

So far, 435 buildings have gone solar under the initiative and the biggest system reaches a capacity of 1.5 MWp. The Emirate has the ambition to have solar panels on all building by 2030.

Rooftop solar systems under Shams Dubai are installed by contractors approved by DEWA and equipment needs to pass certain eligibility criteria. Any extra power produced by the solar systems but not consumed on-site can be fed to the grid, generating credit for the customers' future bills.
