Swiss uni achieves 21.02% Perovskite solar cell efficiency

Scientists at a research university in Switzerland have reached 21.02% Perovskite Solar Cells (PSC) efficiency, marking a new world record, Dyesol Ltd (ASX:DYE) said today.

The result has been achieved by a team headed by professors Michael Graetzel and Anders Hagfeldt at the Ecole Polytechnique Fdddrale de Lausanne (EPFL). Australia-based Dyesol is a licensee of EPFL with access to university intellectual property in the field of perovskite and dye solar cells, it noted.

The 21.02% efficiency has also been certified at the laboratories of Newport Corp in the US state of Montana. The previous efficiency record for that type of solar cells was 20.1%.

A few months ago, it was announced that Dyesol has started working on the market roll-out of its PSC technology. The firm is outlining the manufacturing input materials, techniques and requirements to turn its third-generation prototypes into a commercially available product.
