Oct 5, 2011 - Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667) said today it had won an order for 25 MW of wind turbines from state-owned gas transmission and marketing company GAIL India Ltd (BOM:532155).
Suzlon will supply to GAIL 17 units of its S82-1.5 MW wind turbines for a project in the state of Karnataka, to be commissioned in 2012. The facility's output will be sold to a local utility under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), Suzlon said.
This is the third order that Suzlon has received from GAIL. The first contract was for 4.5 MW of wind turbines that were commissioned in March 2010 in the state of Gujarat. The second order included 14.7 MW of wind turbines for a project in the same state that is currently under construction.
