US renewables developer SunEdison Inc (NYSE:SUNE) has completed a 3.8-MW direct current (DC) solar project in Milford, Utah.
The South Milford facility is now the largest operating solar power plant in the state, the company said on Wednesday. The project has been acquired by SunEdison's yieldco, TerraForm Power (NASDAQ:TERP), from its call right projects list.
The solar park is expected to produce enough electricity to meet the demand of more than 500 homes. The power generated will be sold to local utility PacifiCorp under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
"This is the first of many SunEdison projects to come online in Utah, and SunEdison is leading the way with more than 700 megawatts of solar projects planned for delivery over the next 18 months," said Paul Gaynor, SunEdison executive vice president of Americas and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).
In April, the developer announced deals to build three utility-scale solar parks in southern Utah with a combined capacity of 262 MW DC. It said then it had more than 720 MW of solar projects in development and 306 MW of wind farms in operation in the state.
