India’s Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (BOM:542760), or SWRE, has received a contract to design and build a 1,255-MW solar park at home on behalf of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd.
The award concerns a photovoltaic (PV) scheme in the state of Gujarat, SWRE said in a bourse filing on Wednesday. The contractor was chosen after submitting the lowest bid in a competitive tender held by NTPC. The award is worth INR 22.12 billion (USD 268.9m/EUR 277m), including taxes and duties.
The capacity will be installed within the Khavda RE Power Park in Gujarat’s Kutch district.
The scope of work includes the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the PV complex. An operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement for a three-year term is included, as well.
The contract represents SWRE’s largest domestic order received in India to date, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions provider noted. Currently, SWRE has 12.6 GWp of solar and storage projects in its portfolio, either commissioned and under construction, and is also overseeing the operations of 7 GWp of solar parks.
