Norwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft AS has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with German renewables developer BayWa r.e to source electricity from its 41.7-MW Tordesillas solar farm project in Spain.
The subsidy-free plant is to generate electricity for Statkraft for ten years starting in 2021, which the company will use to supply its Spanish and pan-European customers, it said in a press release.
Scheduled for commissioning in the first half of 2021, Tordesillas is expected to produce around 74 GWh in the first year of full operation.
The latest PPA is Statkraft’s third off-take contract with Baywa r.e in Spain. The parties previously signed agreements covering the Don Rodrigo 1 and 2 solar farms, both subsidy-free and located near Seville.
