Spain will hit 68% renewable power in 2030, but needs more flexibility - BNEF
Dec 06, 2019 16:16 CESTNovember 8 (Renewables Now) - Smartive, a Barcelona-based developer of intelligent platforms for the clean energy industry, has secured a contract to monitor 1,000 wind turbines of Spanish renewable energy and infrastructure group Acciona SA (BME:ANA).
The deal has a term of one year, with an option to be extended. During this time, Smartive, which is backed by European sustainable energy promoter InnoEnergy, will examine 15% of Acciona's global wind fleet to reveal existing or potential problems, according to a press release today.
Smartive chief executive Jordi Cusido says his company can predict failures one year before they occur with over 95% accuracy and estimates this can deliver over EUR 300,000 (USD 342,000) in annual savings per 100 turbines.
"And partnering with a global leader like Acciona opens up a world of possibilities for us as it allows us to demonstrate our technology to a worldwide audience," Cusido further said.
Smartive's technology provides data from real-time monitoring through various Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and cloud platforms that can identify turbine problems.
