Spot price for thin-film modules goes up 1.44% W/W - PVinsights

Jul 16, 2014 - The spot price for thin-film solar modules rose by 1.44% in the seven days till July 16 to USD 0.633 (EUR 0.468) per watt, while all solar products made from crystalline silicon experienced declines, the latest data by research firm PVinsights shows.

The spot price for silicon solar modules decreased by 0.48% to USD 0.625/W.

Multi-crystalline silicon (multi-Si) cells prices experienced a 1.1% decline to an average of USD 1.435 per 156-sq-mm piece, while the price for mono-crystalline silicon (mono-Si) cells went down by 0.59% to USD 2.034 per unit of the same size. For a mono-Si cell of 125 sq mm, the price fell by 0.49% to USD 1.226.

As per wafers, the multi-Si unit of 156 sq mm averaged at USD 0.858, down by 0.23%. The mono-Si wafer price declined by 0.25% to USD 1.207 for a 156-sq-mm piece.

The spot price for PV-grade polysilicon, the key raw material for the photovoltaics industry, went down by 0.24% to USD 21.150 per kg, while for second-grade polysilicon it fell by 0.34% to USD 20.710/kg.
