US photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturer Solectria – A Yaskawa Company announced on Tuesday it has won a 32.5-MW supply contract from solar provider Safari Energy.
Solectria is delivering PVI 20TL and PVI 28TL three-phase transformerless inverters to the particular customer, to be installed at several PV projects in the US for large national landlords. Safari has chosen a distributed method for these PV systems because of the lower upfront and long-term costs and increased energy production, Solectria noted.
The installations at each mall in this portfolio will be completed by the end of the year. They will have the combined capacity to produce more than 1 billion kWh of electricity per year, or enough to cover the annual consumption of nearly 100,000 residential homes, while eliminating 700,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the earth's atmosphere.
