Japanese company Smart Solar Corp announced on Monday that it has started the construction of a 2.5-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan.
The Akada Solar Power Plant, as it is named, is being built for Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (TYO:8518) and has been under development for the past three years.
Located in Oi town, Ashigarakami district, the PV park is scheduled to commence operations in March 2023.
Smart Solar, which is also in charge of the provision of operation and maintenance (O&M) services, estimates that the facility will generate some 2,750 MWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the demand of about 800 local households.
To date, Smart Solar has worked on more than 200 MW of solar plants at 30 locations across Japan, the company noted.
