Singulus launches HJT tool with 22.3% cell efficiency

Singulus Technologies AG (ETR:SNG) said Friday it is launching a new system for processing of heterojunction solar cells, which it will present at SNEC PV Power Expo next week in Shanghai.
The German solar equipment supplier noted that the heterojunction cell technology (HJT) provides conversion efficiencies of over 22%. It added its technology has achieved cell performance of 22.3% in cooperation with a research institute.
The new system, GENERIS PVD, is a horizontal inline sputter tool for depositing transparent conductive oxides layers like ITO (indium tin oxide) and full area metal coatings like Ag on solar cells. With a modular chamber setup, the system offers a throughput range from 2600 wph to 5200 wph, the company said. According to the announcement, production costs are kept low thanks to the use of rotatable sputtering cathodes.
