Sindicom expects 2.8% growth in Brazil 2011 fuel sales

Dec 20, 2011 - Brazil's fuel sales are expected to rise by 2.8% year-on-year in 2011 to 110.3 billion litres (29.138 billion gallons), data published yesterday by the National Union of Fuel and Lubricant Distributors (Sindicom) showed.
Petrol (gasoline) sales are projected to climb 18.3% to 35.3 billion litres.
The estimated increases for diesel oil and aviation kerosene are 4.6% and 13.6%, respectively.
Hydrous ethanol sales, on the other hand, are seen to register a decline of 28.4% this year, reflecting the product's lower supplies and higher prices.
Fuel oil, widely used in thermoelectric power plants (TPPs), has also been losing market, gradually being replaced by natural gas, Sindicom noted.
According to the union, the local fuel sector's revenues this year will come in at BRL 240 billion (USD 128.528bn/EUR 98.779bn).
