BELGRADE (Serbia), November 28 (SeeNews) – Serbian agricultural holding company Victoria Group plans to build a factory for starch and corn syrup and a plant for biomass pellets in the local town of Zrenjanin by the end of 2012, local media reported on Monday.
The new production units will be located on the site of a former sugar mill in Zrenjanin that Victoria Group acquired for 400 million dinars ($5.1 million/3.9 million euro) in June 2011, news agency Tanjug (www.tanjug.rs) reported.
The company has so far this year purchased 70,000 tonnes of raw materials -wheat and soybean residue and corn stalks, that will be used in the production of pellets, Victoria Group’s marketing director Natalija Kurjak was quoted as saying.
Zrenjanin is located in Serbia’s northern Vojvodina province. Victoria Group is based in Novi Sad, Vojvodina’s administrative centre.
