ScottishPower Renewables wins consent for 34.5-MW wind farm
Sep 18, 2013 - ScottishPower Renewables, part of Spanish Iberdrola SA (MCE:IBE), said yesterday it had received planning approval for a 34.5-MW wind farm in Scotland’s Caithness county.
The consent was granted by the Highland Council on September 17.
ScottishPower Renewables intends to install 15 wind turbines at the site of the Halsary wind scheme. Back in 2009 the developer submitted an application for 18 turbines for that site with a total capacity of 41.4 MW. Later, however, it took into account the views of statutory consultees, members of the public and stakeholders and cut the turbine count to 15.
The Scottish firm’s installed renewable energy capacity stands at 1.3 GW, it noted. Earlier this month the company officially opened its 12-MW Middleton wind park near Glasgow, Scotland.
