Schroders wraps up acquisition of 75% in Greencoat Capital

UK asset management company Schroders Plc (LON:SDR) has finalised the acquisition of a 75% stake in renewables investment manager Greencoat Capital Holdings Ltd, completing the operation it announced in December 2021.

Under the terms stated at the time, Schroders was to buy the shareholding for an initial consideration of GBP 358 million (USD 465.6m/EUR 429.9m) in a cash deal that included a potential earn-out and options to eventually take full ownership over Greencoat.

Going forward, Greencoat Capital will be known as Schroders Greencoat, Schroders said.

Greencoat has invested in wind, solar, bioenergy and heat infrastructure, and manages GBP 6.8 billion of assets on behalf of its clients as of end-December 2021. Since its launch in 2009, the London and Dublin-based investor amassed over 3 GW of operational assets.

“The completion of the Greencoat Capital transaction expands our offering in an area of high client demand. Institutional investors in the UK and globally are looking for renewable infrastructure investments which provide, long-dated, inflation-linked returns,” said Peter Harrison, Schroders Group Chief Executive.
