Russia kicks off 2.8-GW renewables tender

Russia has today kicked off a tender for about 2.8 GW of renewable generation capacity for the years from 2018 to 2022.

Association NP Market Council provided an update on the planned auction at the end of April, saying it will cover five years, including also 2022.

The planned volumes of required capacity in MW are as follows:

The selection process will take place in two phases, with the first to run till June 2. The second phase will be held between June 5 and June 9 and will be open only to updates to applications accepted in the first phase.

In April, Finnish utility Fortum Oyj (HEL:FORTUM) unveiled it has agreed to invest up to RUB 15 billion (USD 264m/EUR 241m) in a new Russian wind power joint venture with state-run nanotechnology company Rusnano that will try to secure the possibility of a Capacity Supply Agreement (CSA) wind portfolio in Russia.
