September 30 (Renewables Now) - Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) on Thursday completed the sale of a 50% stake in its 1.3-GW Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm in the UK, the Danish clean energy group said.
The GBP-3-billion (USD 3.3bn/EUR 3.4bn) deal to offload the stake to AXA IM Alts, a division of French insurer Axa SA (EPA:CS), and Credit Agricole Assurance, part of France’s Credit Agricole (EPA:ACA), was announced in March. Its completion follows the commissioning of Hornsea 2, which became the world’s largest offshore wind farm, at the end of August.
The wind park is installed 89 km (55.3 miles) from the Yorkshire shore, next to its sister project Hornsea 1, which has been operational since late 2019. It consists of 165 wind turbines that are expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 1.4 million UK homes.
