Romania Says China's SINOHYDRO Interested in Major Hydropower Plant Project

BUCHAREST (Romania), September 1 (SeeNews) – The Romanian Economy Ministry said on Thursday Chinese construction group SINOHYDRO is interested in participating in the construction of the 1,000-megawatt Tarnita-Lapustesti hydropower plant.

Romania is seeking investors for the construction of the pumped-storage hydropower plant whose estimated cost, according to local media reports, is 1.1 billion euro ($1.6 billion).

SINOHYDRO is also interested in participating in other energy projects in Romania through a public private partnership, the ministry said in a statement.

SINOHYDRO is a world leading construction group with operations in more than 100 countries.
