Renovalia closes USD 171.4m financing for wind farm in Mexico
(ADPnews) - Dec 29, 2010 - Spanish renewable energy firm Renovalia on Monday said it had secured a MXN 2.115 billion (USD 171.4m/EUR 129.6m) financing for the first phase of the Piedra Larga wind farm, to be built in Mexico's southern Oaxaca state.
The financing matures in 16 years, while the group of lenders includes Spanish commercial bank Santander (MCE:SAN) and savings bank La Caixa.
With its planned installed capacity of 228 MW, Piedra Larga will be the second largest wind farm in Mexico. Its first phase includes the installation of 45 wind turbines of 2 MW each, due to come onstream in the last quarter of 2011.
The wind farm will supply Mexican bakeries and confectionery concern Grupo Bimbo (MXK:BIMBO).
