Renewables produce 6.2% of Peru's power in May

Non-hydro renewables in Peru generated 227 GWh of electricity in May, making up 6.2% of the nation’s total power output, according to preliminary figures published by the Peruvian energy ministry.

Last month's renewables share represents a slight decline from April when it reached 6.8% on 224 GWh generated.

All power generators combined produced 3,633 GWh in May, a drop of 25% compared to the same period in 2019, with only solar farms increasing their output in year-on-year terms.

Production levels from non-hydro renewables was higher in May 2019, but their share was at 5.0% at the time, the ministry’s figures show.
