Aug 29, 2013 - Chinese firm ReneSola Ltd (NYSE:SOL) said today it had secured a 69.5-MW solar module order from UK solar park operator Lightsource Renewable Energy.
The buyer will use the modules for projects in the UK, details of which were not disclosed.
ReneSola calculates that once installed, these modules will produce enough clean energy for over 23,000 British homes. “The quality of our glass allows our modules to reach relatively high electricity production levels, particularly with regard to diffused light, which is characteristic of the cloudy and overcast conditions often seen in the UK,” noted ReneSola CEO Xianshou Li.
The Chinese photovoltaics (PV) manufacturers and Lightsource have been working together for nearly three years now.
Lightsource operates more than 74 large-scale solar parks at present. In May CEO Nick Boyle told Bloomberg that the firm might spend some GBP 400 million (USD 620.3m/EUR 467.6m) on local solar projects in 2013, installing as much as 300 MW in the 12 months to May 2014.
