ReneSola to equip 29.1-MW solar project of Saferay in Chile
Aug 7, 2013 - Chinese solar module maker ReneSola Ltd (NYSE:SOL) today unveiled a 29.1-MW module order from German solar power plant developer Saferay GmbH for the first solar park in Chile that is to sell power on the spot market.
Under the terms of the supply contract, ReneSola will deliver 7.5 MW of its photovoltaic (PV) modules this month and 21.5 MW more in January 2014. The equipment is for the La Huayca II solar project, an extension to the already operational 1.4-MW La Huayca I facility in Chile’s Atacama region.
The 29.1-MW solar project does not rely on any incentives or power purchase agreements, ReneSola noted. It will be feeding power into the Northern Interconnected Electricity grid. ReneSolar CEO Xianshou Li lauded Chile as “one of the few markets that allow PV companies to sell electricity to the local grid at profitable market prices”. He said that his company would keep expanding its operations in South America.
Last week, ReneSola announced an order from a new Pakistani customer for microinverters, string inverters and mounting solutions.
