PVB Power Bulgaria To Build 7 Hydropower Plants in Romania for 250 Mln Euro

SOFIA (Bulgaria), March 24 (SeeNews) – Energy company PVB Power Bulgaria will invest 250 million euro ($353 million) in building seven small hydropower plants in neighbouring Romania, Bulgarian media reported.

The plants are expected to have a combined electricity output of 260 million KWh per year, Pari business daily quoted PVB Power Bulgaria as saying in a statement.

PVB Power Bulgaria has so far invested 115 million euro in the construction of nine hydropower plants on the Iskar river, in northern Bulgaria, and plans to build five more on the Maritsa river, in the south, worth a total of 110 million euro, Pari added.

Shareholders in PVB Power Bulgaria are the Italian state represented by Finest S.p.A., PVB Group (Petrolvilla) and two of the biggest utilities in northern Italy - Dolomti Energia and Azienda Energetica SpA Etschwerke AD.
