Dec 26, 2014 - The average spot price for polysilicon solar photovoltaic (PV) modules declined by 0.16% in the week through December 24 to USD 0.618 (EUR 0.507) per watt, according to the latest statistics by researcher PVinsights.
Meanwhile, thin-film modules were trading at an average spot price of USD 0.638 per watt, the same as in the prior seven days.
According to PVinsights' data, the price for multi-crystalline silicon (multi-Si) cells slipped by 0.58% in the period under review to USD 1.369 per 156-sq-mm piece, while mono-crystalline silicon (mono-Si) cells of the same size traded USD 1.837, down 0.54%. The average spot price for Taiwan-made polysilicon cells was 0.31 lower than in the previous week, or USD 0.321 per watt.
Moving up the supply chain, the price for multi-si wafers went down by 0.34% to USD 0.874 per 156-sq-mm piece, on average. Mono-si wafers of the same size were selling at USD 1.165, down 0.43%.
The average spot price for PV-grade polysilicon, the main raw material for the photovoltaics industry, decreased by 1.03% to USD 19.300 per kg.
