Public inquiry to start on 1.5-MW wind power project in Essex - report
Dec 14, 2011 - The Braintree District Council will launch an eight-week public consultation for a 1.5-MW wind power project at a country park in Essex, BBC News reported.
The council plans to erect a single turbine in Great Notley, up to 131 m (429 ft) in height. The unit is estimated to generate 2,300 MWh of power a year, enough to cover the needs of 800 local households, the report said.
According to the council's calculations, it will earn GBP 250,000 (USD 387,500/EUR 297,300) a year by selling the output to the grid.
The public consultation will end in the middle of February 2012, BBC said.
