September 2 (SeeNews) - The winners in Germany’s second solar power tender will get contracts at EUR 0.0849 (USD 0.096) per kWh, below even the average power sale rate of EUR 0.0917 per kWh achieved in the previous tender.

The bid date for the third solar tender this year will be December 1, the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagetur) said today.

The second auction resulted in 159.7 MW of winning proposals. It was more than three times oversubscribed, having received 136 bids for a combined capacity of 558 MW. The tender was structured under the “uniform pricing” so all winners get the same rate as the highest successful bid. The lowest bid, meanwhile, was for EUR 0.01 per kWh.

Germany’s pilot photovoltaic (PV) capacity auction ended in April, bringing a total capacity of 156.97 MW.

In 2015 the Bundesnetzagetur will be gathering proposals for 500 MW of solar PV capacity in total, followed by 400 MW in 2016 and a further 300 MW in 2017.
