January 9 (Renewables Now) - German wind developer PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNE3) said today its has secured a 71.4-MW project in a tender for wind developments in Turkey.

The company's Koeseler wind project won a contract in the 260-MW tender for the region of Canakkale, western Turkey at the end of December. PNE Wind said the tender was significantly oversubscribed as about 5,000 MW of projects competed.

With the award, PNE Wind Yenilenebilir Enerjiler got a so-called pre-licence and secure network access for the project. The developer said this was a key milestone for the further development of the project until final approval.

"This is a great success and a further step towards the internationalisation of our core business," commented chief executive Markus Lesser.

At the end of December, Turkey completed auctions for a total of 2,130 MW of wind capacity and issued preliminary licences to 2,110 MW.
