November 12 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewables developer Opdenergy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Entergy Louisiana for a 160-MW direct current (DC) solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

The 20-year PPA will support the project's development in Allen Parish, Louisiana. The local subsidiary of Entergy Corp (NYSE:ETR) will buy 100% of the energy generated by the plant upon completion, the Spanish company said.

Opdenergy expects to break ground in January 2023, while grid connection is planned to take place during the first quarter of 2024. Once up and running, Allen Parish's new solar farm will be capable of generating close to 302,000 MWh per year.

This new contract will be evaluated for approval by the Louisiana Public Service Commission.

Together with the PPAs signed in the first half of the year, Opdenergy now has a total of 413 MW of DC power placed with off-takers in the US, according to the company.
