OPDE starts building 8.9-MWp solar park in England
Oct 27, 2014 - Spanish solar company OPDE said in a statement today it had initiated the construction of an 8.9-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) park in East Sussex, South East England.
The GBP-7.9-million (USD 12.7m/EUR 10m) Eastbourne solar project will utilise about 35,200 solar modules capable of generating enough power to supply 2,640 local homes. It is expected to be connected to the grid by December.
With this development, OPDE is on track to achieve its goal of having 100 MW of PV plants hooked to the grid by March 2015. The company completed a 12-MWp solar farm last March. Its pipeline includes, amongst others, a 6.9-MWp shovel-ready project in Hothfield, another 18-MWp scheme in Kent and a 10.8-MWp installation in Somerset.
In addition to the UK, OPDE also has activities in Mexico and Brazil.
