OMV Petrom’s Dorobantu Wind Park Starts Commercial Ops

BUCHAREST (Romania), October 7 (SeeNews) – The Dorobantu wind park, developed and owned by Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom [BSE:SNP] launched commercial operations on October 1, the group said.

The wind park has an installed capacity of 45 megawatts (MW) and is located in Dobrogea, southeastern Romania, OMV Petrom said in a statement on Thursday, adding that it invested some 90 million euro ($120.4 million) in it.

The park is equipped with 15 Vestas-V90 turbines with a capacity of 3.0 MW each. The construction of the park began during the second half of last year and was completed in July this year.

The green certificates allocated to the park will mostly go towards the electricity consumption quota of OMV Petrom, which is some 1.0 Terawatt hour per year, as the difference will be marketed on the Romanian market.

"We view the news as neutral since it is in-line with the company's previous statements that it will open the wind park by end-2011," Raiffeisen Capital & Investment Research said in a daily note to investors on Thursday.
