October 7 (Renewables Now) - Ukrainian renewable energy developer Eco-Optima Group has chosen wind turbines by Germany’s Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) for a 54.6-MW wind park in its home country.
The German turbine maker said on Thursday it will deliver 10 pieces of the N149/5.X machines for the Skolivska wind farm, set to become one of the largest ones in the country. The power plant is already under construction near the city of Lviv, western Ukraine, and turbine installation is slated to begin in the spring of 2022.
Nordex noted that Skolivska will be the first wind park in Ukraine to use turbines from its 5-MW platform. The German manufacturer will maintain the hardware under a 15-year premium service contract.
Once up and running, the Skolivska wind farm will be capable of producing enough electricity to meet the demand of around 80,000 homes per year.
Eco-Optima has more than 154 MW operational wind and solar parks in Ukraine and is currently building 110 MW more.
